This is the biggest problem Finale has had for years. Upgrading files is WAY back on their priority list. I have been battling this problem since 2.0. The issues you bring up are big but over the years it has been much worse. I have told every client I work with that if you are planning on

Dennis: So what this means is that you have to keep all old versions of Finale and use for each file the version in was created in. My experience is that the upconvert from Fin97 forwards was quite good: certainly far better than any previous upconverts. They stumbled slightly with Fin03

I am a MAC user and I have to manage well over 60,000 Mac only finale files for a publisher that are mostly choral/vocal files. It has been a difficult. I have to keep an old machine around (and some backup old machines) to run OS9 so I can open files from version 3.5.2 up to 2003 which I do on a

Darcy: I think MM changed what items are influenced by font annotation files. For instance, ties on rhythmic notation used to ignore font annotation files -- now they observe them. Is it possible that something like this is going on here? It certainly is possible. If it is so, it helps
