When I try to resize the tool pallete into a long, thin, one-column strip, most
of the icons disappear, turning into a blank pallete window for its most part,
only a few toll icons showing at the top; the resizing box no longer works, the
pallete freezes; then I get the raimbow spinning ball
Hi Hiro,
This seems to be system related, and I don't know what it is about my
system that produces this behavior. I can predict, with some
reliability, when it is going to happen, because there are early signs
of the corruption. The first sign is that some instruments begin to
play
It just hapenned again, only a couple of days after trashing the preferences.
Is this a problem involving Finale and Leopard?

Hi Haroldo,
Darned if I know. I take no pleasure from the fact that others are
having this problem, but it's nice to have some company.

Are you guys resizing your palettes? There's a known issue with
resizing palettes vertically in Leopard.
Make sure to file this as a support case, and attach your corrupted
preferences.

YES! I resize it vertically in one long single column and place it at the far
right of the computer screen. As a matter of fact this was the first thingI did
after trashing the preferences and restarting Finale. So, that explains why
the problem returned so soon. Thanks.

Hi Allen,
Yes, I resize my main tool palette, putting it into two rows and
shortening it so tools I rarely use are hidden. Will this behavior
stop, if I put the palette back to its original configuration? If so,
can I find this original configuration without starting my preferences

Like Chuck, I do make it in two raws as soon as I have a new install,
but after that I will never touch the palettes especially because
It's not just Leopard. I'm in 10.4, and when I have to trash
preferences (about twice a week, it seems!) the next time I launch
Finale the first thing I do is make my palette into a long thin line.
This crashes Finale instantly. If I quit and restart, then I can
reshape my palette.
It's something to do with windowing. If they're set up this way
already in prefs, you'll run into it. I *think* if you put them back
it may work, but don't hold me to that.
I hope all of you that are running into this send in a support
request. The huge advantage to the new case system is
Hi Allen,
Any more info on exactly what is affected by this bug? I have used the
2 row horizontal strip version of the palette, plus a programmed
Tool Set, for, like, forever. I had no idea this might be the source
of problems.
Cheers,

Finale 2008
Finale was running fine on my machine until now. This is what just happened:
It quits unexpectedly every time I try to launch it. If I click on the
relaunch button I get this: The application Finale 2008 quit unexpectedly
after it was relaunched.
Try trashing your Finale Preferences, which are in
USERNAME/Library/Preferences/Finale 2008 Preferences
If that doesn't clear it up, you might want to check the logs, which you
can get to by the Apple Menu, About this Mac, More Info..Then go
down to Software-system.log and see what it
Trashing the preferences did it. Thanks a lot!

Harold,
The first thing to try is to delete your Finale Preference file (on a
Mac, this resides in User/Library/Preferences - don't know about
PCs). This sounds suspiciously like a corrupted preference file is
the culprit. You will have to re-build your preferences after Finale
