Being new to Linux in general why do some applications appear under
Fink and others not? For example Galeon is listed as web browser for
Gnome. Gnumeric, Abiword and other gnome applications are listed in
Fink but not Galeon, Balsa, and Evolution.

Yes. I finally got it all running. On my system, when I start X11 it
brings up the full gnome desktop and aqua disappears entirely. When I
logout it flips back to Aqua. Can also set up where X11 runs inside

When I try to update gnucash it get an error stating that the program wants to replace gtkhtml1.1 which i can install and even rebuild successfully with a lessor version. When I then go back and attempt to install gtkhtml using fink, the install bombs

can you be more specific. to install i usually type fink install
