I have just spent four hours trying to figure out how to download, install,
and run gnucash.
All I get is errors. Missing charsets in Fontset creation is one.

Did you install the most recent from

Your X11 installation is somehow older now than when you built
gnucash2. Perhaps you _had_ the macosforge version, but a system update
downgraded it for you.
Either update your X11 install or rebuild gnucash2 (fink rebuild gnucash2)

I just installed the gnucash binary (1.8.12-11) using fink. It's the

packages installed in /sw).

There have been various problems reported with fink's gnucash package,
which is rather old. The gnucash2 package is much more up-to-date
(but you'll have to build it from source, which means installing XCode
and so on).

Please update the package info for gnucash. Newest version is 2.2.5, and
uses different dependencies.
I am using mirror: http://msn.wi.us.finkmirrors.net
I may have better luck with another mirror when I figure out how to change
that, or add additional mirrors.
I am also learning how to add
gnucash 2.2.5 is fink package gnucash2. You do need the unstable/
crypto tree enabled to see/get it.
gnucash 1.8.x was allowed to live on when the 2.0 branch was released
so people could go back and forth. Perhaps a good idea, but seems more
like an albatross now.

At this point, you probably would prefer gnucash2 (much more recent
version(s), 2.2.0 just made it up tonight). Your Xcode tools is
pretty old -- most recent is 2.4.1, but I don't know if that's a
problem.
Gnucash2 is the package name in fink. You still start it as 'gnucash'

Thanks for any help you can give.
