I'm currently still using a Fink installation originally done under
10.3, and hardly touched after I upgraded to 10.4 (because it simply
worked).
Now, I'm waiting for a new MBP to arrive, so I'm looking into the best
way to upgrade (best meaning breaks the least of the various
dependencies

Direct upgrading _wasn't_ supported. The 10.3 - 10.4 upgrade options
were described back in 2006. Check out the 2006-07-01 and 2006-07-24
items from

You might find it easier just to start afresh, however.

It may make things a bit easier when you install on 10.6 if you have a
