Fink 0.18.0 on Mac OS 10.3.2 with Apple's X11
Some time ago, I was able to build earlier versions of Evolution with
fink. I decided to try this again and I ran into some gnome library
confusion. Evolution requires many gnome packages and a configure for
gal199-1.99.10-4 fails about here:

Try doing a selfupdate--I had thought that the gal199 depends issues
were fixed.
Even if there's still dependency problems in evolution, you don't need
to mess around with PKG_CONFIG_PATH--I was able to install it by just
installing the packages that gal199 was complaining about.

You need the -dev package, too. I guess this still hasn't been fixed.

With the -dev package installed the rest of the Evolution build went
