Candy,
We have a saddle made by a small saddle maker out of Spring Grove, MN. It's
called About the Horse or Black Rhino. They are comfortable for the
rider but , more importantly, their trees are such that the horse's shoulders
are free for movement.

Dear Candy,
The seventeen inches refers to the rider's measurements, not
the horse's. You are probably going to need a wide tree saddle for
these guys, depending on how bulky and broad backed they are.
Average saddles are made for horses

Dear Marsha Jo,
Thanks for the story of Nansy. Three cheers to you for helping
her along, with her various special problems, so she can enjoy life
a little longer. Does anyone still ride or drive or line drive, or lunge her,
or is her

Denise,
I don't think that it is a breed thing... but a specific horse thing. My
Fjord is only with one paddock mate and has been for the last 2 years. He
barely notices when we leave with the Arab and he has no problem leaving with
us on the cart for

Well some horses will do that. Some times there is nothing to do about
it. So just let them do what they do. Take one out at a time every day
is you can. It might help them get over it a little more.
Welcome Kay.

Denise,
Our two Fjords are real buddies too (a 5 yr. old mare, Osa and 6 yr. old
gelding, Geilo). But, as they became more familiar with home (we just
got Geilo about 6 weeks ago too), they became more relaxed with being
left at home

dear meredith, those sound like puffballs. they show up here in the
moister weather of fall and spring. they are a sort of fungus, like
mushrooms and poisonous. that's probably why your horse won't eat them.

Alex I think we people learn also by smell and taste. Usually our young
have to try things they should not and if they survive have learned the hard
way. Nothing magical. I had my thrakehner Charley eat off the tops of six

It is always so good to hear about things like this. When we take the extra
time and effort good things do happen. Be proud. Jean

As a new list member here, I have posted to the list a couple of times, and I
keep forgetting to use my name! I'm Candy, my husband Ed and I have owned a
pair of Fjord geldings, Max and Thor, for about 6 weeks now. Thanks to the

Although our Herbie isn't a Fjord, he's a pinto pony (13.2H), I wanted to
tell you about him. Herbie came to us as very shaggy old and tired pony. I
knew little about horses and was told he was around 20. Well, after the vet
looked at him his age

How many horses does it take to change a light bulb?
Fjords: Haven't you noticed? It's done already. Now feed me.

Yes, Jonetta (June) turned 25 on June 6th. She is full of life, healthy,
willing and obedient and the best darn horse my 7 year old could have. We
do feed her senior feed, she doesn't digest regular grain fully anymore -
although she
