My favorite shampoo is the the one I make (well kinda) . I use The
Main N Tail shampoo and add 7% Iodine to it. I use a bit of the
shampoo first and the put in about 2 inches of the Iodine . Measuring
the 2" on the Shampoo bottle. Shake it up

years back when the vet diagnosed our little pony, Wee. We dusted
Kilar's tail/mane/forelock areas as well as he was scratching/rubbing.

I don't think they have any mites or lice. As I said, they are body-clipped
and rinsed off fairly frequently and I do wash the tails just not on a weekly
basis. I will look at the tails carefully before I wash them to be sure,

As far as Listerine irritating it does not. All the ones that I have
put it on really enjoy having it rubbed in as it helps with the itch.
Another little crawly critter you may want to consider is lice. You
can google an image of them as well.

Sometimes tails get itchy because the horse is uncomfy under his
tail. Take a look and do some gentle cleaning, and the rubbing may
stop. Making sure they have enough natural oils in their skin/coat/
