Sounds like a good theory to me, Mary. My vast knowledge of Fjord coats is
limited to two. The mare is drafty and has put her coat on already. The
gelding is much lighter (sport type) and still is slick. So your theory
works in my barn.

I live in Arkansas and mine is already coating up. She was bred here and has
lived in Arkansas or Tennessee all her 12 years. Warm Octobers can be hard
on her, but so far this summer has been mild and hopefully Fall will be too.
