Vilde is better, but still a bit depressed. Our vet took another blood panel
today as requested by the State Vet Hosp, and we will get the results tomorrow.
Still no diagnosis, with one set of results yet to come in.
Vilde did show considerable energy the first time I put her out on
the pasture

Hi -
Vilde continues to improve [still no diagnosis] and should come home early
next week! Yea!
Also, Sophie Fiedler emailed me that Una, owned by the Brandts and US-bred,
earned a higher Conformation and Movement score than Erlend's

The vet at the hospital says that if all continues to go well, Vilde may be
able to return home Sunday or Monday. We certainly hope so! We would feel
even better if we knew for sure what was wrong.
At least we keep being assured

Hi again -
Have to run to Seattle for son's birthday party, but wanted to say that
Vilde's condition is improved enough that she is out of isolation. Temp is
staying down for now.

Hi -
Doug and I are back home. Vilde is still at the vet hosp in the presidential
suite [isolation]. She has been on Metronytazol [aka Flagel]. When I took it
for Giardia, I thought the treatment was worse than the disease, but she

Have they made any mention of checking her for ulcers? I had a mare that
exhibited signs of colic for several weeks on and off, including elevated
temp, etc. and it turned out to be stomach ulcers. They can scope them to
know for sure,

Hi all -
The call this morning from the vet at Pullman said her temp was back up to
102.5 and she was looking more depressed. They are doing more tests today,

Vilde is staying for a while at the Vet Hosp for observation, so far no
reason for the symptoms has been found.

Vilde is still uncomfortable, with a fever of 102.5 and increased
respiration rate. Today, when I returned from being in court with a friend,
it was clear she had been rolling. She improves with Banamine

Peggy, so sorry about your baby. Remember how stoic these horses are and
they do not show great pain until things are really tough. My Howdie kept
eating but there was a twist in the gut high up. We had him on so much
banamine he would act normal

Sorry to keep on this but in the old days for twists one called in friends
and laid the horse down and rocked them back and forth with often good
results. Jean

Hi Peg,
I read your post about Vies Vilde. I would highly recommend giving her Pro Bi,
which is made by a company called Advanced Biological Concepts (ABC for
short). Here is a link to their web site: http://www.a-b-c-plus.com/ And here

Hi all -
Vilde is still not herself today, with a temp of 102.3. She is in pain, but
has passed stool and the oil from the vet's tubing yesterday. We fed her
this morning, but then she just wanted to lie down. No rolling, and she did
get up and walk readily.
