Hello list,
Anyone have any suggestions for horses that rub their tails??? Is this a
Fjord thing??? My mare continues to make a mess of her tail by rubbing it..
I keep it clean, she is wormed regularly and I keep her clean in and around
her udder.

Hello--
I have been reading with interest the posts about tail rubbing as this is
something I have been dealing with with my girl. I also have her on daily

Amy - you were spot on for my ponies. I noticed they had started rubbing
out of the blue, so today we got the heavy brushes and scratched their butts.
It's not an area I use a shedding comb on. Lo and behold tons and tons of
shedding hair, and I mu

While everyone is searching for causes, and treatments and cures for those
itchy tails, you may want to consider the simplest ones. It's Spring, they are
shedding; don't forget that tail hair sheds too, and is just as itchy as any
other shedding hair. Comb out t

Don't know about it for itching, but I used it when Joe had a horrible case
of rain rot. I had tried two weeks of other shampoos and treatments with no
improvement. The MTG cleaned it up within 2 days. I treated a few more
times, the mess went away

Well we are having a fit with a couple of the fjordies rubbing tails, manes,

As far as Listerine irritating it does not. All the ones that I have
put it on really enjoy having it rubbed in as it helps with the itch.
Another little crawly critter you may want to consider is lice. You
can google an image of them as well.

A good product that works well with itchy tails that you may already
have in your medicine cabinet is Listerine (the Mouthwash) . Just
scrub it into the base of the the tail and anywhere else they many have
