There are some real high dollar sound cards that are really and truly balanced,
but they cost as much as the SDR-1K. We use them extensively at work since all
our spots (commercials) all the drops (cute sound effects the jocks and talk
hosts play) and most of the music we play are on hard
Hi Bill, thanks for the info. I'm sorry I
missed your post, back on the 1st of July. Its amazing how much more money
it takes to set up an op-amp for diff. input vs single (Hi-end vs ours) input,
just a couple more resisters! Yes, I agree its a great card for SDR
use. Perhaps the reason you

Yea!!! Thanks for the information! I have Tony KB9YIG awaiting a word
to go ahead with 15 pin connector board kits to interface directly to the

Thanks for all your replies.
The PWR control on the main console is set to 100. The Tune setting only puts
out 1W which is all that is necessary for an automatic antenna tuner.
I did notice that the CW keydown power jumped to 25W when I unplugged the
speakers (I'm using amplified PC
As a point of interest, it turns out the FSK generator is a hybrid of
the iambic keyer and the keyboard keyer. It uses a version of the iambic
hardware interface but a version of the keyboard tone generation and
threading. The only really new element is signalling from the outside to
turn the

You make very good points as usual. The
concept of internally mountable board is interesting. I did not think of that.
This is not a VGA typ HD DB-15. and I am
not sure of the availability of std 15 pin cables. They were used extensively in
early Ethernet connections. Officenet.
Gentlemen,
I was disappointed to learn that the Delta 44 only
has pseudo-balanced inputs, but it's good to understand that.
The phone jacks on a dongle is a bit of a nuisance,
but if want something light to use for travel, at
least you have access to the sound card through a

While wiring things up last week I cam to the conclusion that a 3.5 mm
stereo connector on the back is not longer appropriate if the Delta 44 with
the 1/4 plugs is the preferred sound card. Sadly FlexRadio can't see into
the future. My choice would be a DIN plug but not something as small as
Hello everyone,
I have asked for help with thisbefore but got no response. I wonder if
this means that I am the only one trying this??
I use the SDR as a remote station, mostly ssb. At my home location I
use super equipment to process the audio and do the analog to digital
conversion and then it
Hi All,
Does it really matter that the Delta 44 has only pseudo-balanced
inputs since the SDR-1000 only has unbalanced inputs and outputs?

Andrew,
You are using Skype whose audio I assume you are playing out the
remote computer's sound card. The virtual audio cable will probably
not work in your situation unless Skype is sending audio data to the
sound card at 48 kSPS. I doubt that it is. The virtual sound card
does no data rate

Not really in the great grand scheme of things Phil.
I developed my DB-15 to mini adaptor to first, eliminate as many ground
issues as I could (it's not perfect, that would take balancing amps or
transformers on the SDR end, but it goes a long way) and second, reduce clutter
and reduce the
Hi Don
I'll get it off to you later today. It's on another machine.

In an attempt to flesh out the default ShuttlePro settings that are
offered on our website, I have modified W5ZLs original template to
toggle a few more of the options (some only available in v1.4.5 and
forward).
Attached is a picture of the layout. I would like suggestions on how to
improve

You can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear. The SDR is unbalanced, and that's
all there is to it. As per several proceeding exchanges the Delta 44 does not
have truly balanced inputs and outputs, so the amount of noise elimination /
cancellation / etc. is not as great as
John,
I have one of the Radio Shack line isolators you mentioned. I use one of
the stereo channels for input and the other for output for psk31 and other
data modes. It works well up to 4 KHZ which is what I have tested it to
but I haven't tried it on the SDR-1000. RS also sells a single
Has anyone tried a bluetooth headset and USB adapter for
Skype, Teamspeak, or perhaps SDR-1000 wireless connectivity?

I've used a Jabra Bluetooth headset with Skype on my IBM Thinkpad, but had
to first install a bluetooth driver that supports the headset profile, which
IBM's Bluetooth driver did not. I eventually gave up on this driver after it
kept generating blue screens.

I am experiencing popping and crackling in the SDR audio stream when I
drag/reposition any open windows on the screen. Also I experience the
same symptoms when I run the histogram display mode which is obviously
video intensive. Any incite as to what is causing this and what could be

Thinking ouside the box, one could view the D44 this way:
Not 4, single-ended, in/out ports,
But 2 pairs of differentially driven ports.

Get your self a Heil Boom set with the HC5 element. You will not need to
take the mixer. Just plug the Heil directly into the D44 MIC position. Set MIC
level to 60-70-choose the level that lets you achieve a 0 db on the ALC meter
about 85% of the time. Set your transmit filter to Low of 100
