Jim, There are many of us Flex AM'ers out here that use the SAM mode constantly. I personally like the way it was implemented in K6JCA's version and the added ability to set the frequency limit that SAM would look for a signal to lock on to. Ah yes, the good ol' days or is it the good new days?
