Status report:
I got the new computer configured with the Delta-44 and a cheapie
1P2S card and connected up the SDR-1000 to it an hour ago. Been
sitting here copying 75 meters since then .
As I expected, it is showing very low CPU utilization. Typically 2-4%
unless I switch on ANF or NR. It is
d maybe I could adjust. Otherwise, leave it to the good ole
Collins standard... works for me.

Hulen

Edwin,
to do a quick and dirty check on your XG-1, first use it to calibrate your
SDR-1000. Then connect your SDR-1000 to a dummy load, set it to CWU or CWL
with a 500Hz filter setting, set the preamp to high and read the noise level
in the RX digital meter (the yellow numbers above the analog

I totally agree but my other point is that perhaps the XG-1 may be
defective. I want accurate readings just like everyone else but the
readings are so radically different that I want to make sure the test
instrument is not causing the discrepancy. I know of another local ham
who told me he has an X
we're used to, shouldn't they? I'm hitting a guy with +20 and he's
hitting me with S7. It just doesn't seem right.
Thanks for reading.

I'd like to echo what Tim and Larry are saying re: getting a
Professional Electrician. The other comment I could add is from
Bob N4HY. Bob steered me to a UPS in 2005. He uses a UPS to supply
all his SDR gear. I am now doing the same with a used 750VA unit.
It made my ground loop situation much
