Unfortunately, the RS transformers are susceptible to hum. Just remember to
keep them away from inductive devices like power transformers. Your speaker
serves as the test instrument. If you hear hum, just simply relocate the
barrel, which contains the isolation transformer until you no longer can

I don't disagree with ur analysis of what is supposed to be there. You
bring up good points. However it is there and it may be due to some
cross talk maybe in the Firebox. I will revisit the test setup tomorrow.
The truth also is in what I hear on my transmit frequency in another

You claim to be an average ham, maybe not very
technical and certainly I expect you wouldn't claim to
be one of the super stars that populates this

1/2 hours to set up the SDR-1000. No it is not as

Thanks, Tim Ken, for your replies.
Yesterday I tried turning off the panadapter (and also
reducing the display's FPS), and, surprisingly, that
didn't seem to change the cyclical nature of the mips
consumption. (I'll have to experiement again this
evening and see if there's an overall change,
A few more thoughts:
Does the cycle happen when PowerSDR is not running? What about when running
with other audio applications using the FA-66? Does it happen when you set
the display mode to Off?
If the answer to all of these is no, then I'm not real sure where to point
you besides general

Well said Lee.
You would be surprised to find out how many private emails I have received
supporting my position. 23 and counting. Including from some of the super
stars you refer to. The Flex is a great radio. This is a hobby. Lets have
fun and lighten up. No one is being negative or
I had a similar problem, and what stopped it was the stopping of all
unnecessary process that run in Windows. My PC started at 50% spiking
to 75%, after the change it's now about 7% with no spikes. This is on

Hello, this sound familiar. This weekend I helped a friend that had a
terrible problem
with sideband rejection on SSB. We adjusted his transmitter first by the
help of a second receiver.
Then we did this receiver auomatic calibration, and his numbers was just
like you describe.
I dont remember the

Jeff,
I had that happen to me, also. I could not find the culprit using the
task manager, so I ran MSCONFIG under the run command and rebooted with
a minimum configuration, i.e. most of the auto starting applications
were not loaded. The problem went away, so I again tried to find the

Hi Charles and everyone else who has replied.
I've run through a number of the recommendations, but so far, no joy.
o No (or little) change if turn OFF the panadpter display.
o No change if I change indexing per the method on N9VV's website (the
directions in the Flex KB didn't work for me).
Jeff,
Try running MSCONFIG in the Diagnostic Startup mode.
