I have a Core 2 Duo machine running XP and I see no different in performance if
PowerSDR is configured to run only on one core. If you get up to 4 and 8 way
core CPUs, context switching may impart some additional latency, but I only
have two cores to work with. Other people's mileage may vary.
A thermostatic fan controller.
Look at the one by Paul, W1GHZ. It is easy to add to a SDR1K. Reverse the
high temp LED so it is on the back of the PCB and mount it to the left of the
fan on the inside.

So we are better off with a fast, single processor CPU than a bit slower
multiple one for the SDR apps if we are going to limit to one?

Coincidentally, I was fretting over the fan noise from my SDR-1000 also

Alex,
I just installed version 1.1 over my version 1.0. I appreciate the
changes but I am disappointed that you are still limiting standard
transceivers to a 3 kHz maximum skim! I wrote several times regarding

Just to play the Devil's advocate, be forewarned that turning off or
circumventing the functionality of UAC will leave Vista more vulnerable to
spyware, malware, virus, and trojans.
With that said, we can all thank Mr. Bill for a most frustrating computer

my Vista box, I activated the super administrator account (requires several
steps which can be found with a Google search). Since then, I have been
