I picked up some ERBTEK P/N 86-0113-2502 amp boards. Before hacking them so I
can use them as amplifiers, I was wondering if someone had figured out how to
bias the transistors easly? I talked to an engineer there a while back was
told that the transistor were biased using and external (to
Upgrade to v1.18.3 and see if the problem still exists. If so, submit a bug
report so that it can be checked out against the upcoming v2.0.0 version.

I thought I had this issue resolved but I find that it was not. I'm
wondering if anyone else using (or that used) a SDR-1000 is experiencing
the same issue.
After install 1.18.3 the noise floor increased from less than S1 (dummy
load) to S6.5 on 20-meters. The issue seems to be most obvious

It may be a coincidence, but since I updated my firmware and flex-firewire
driver I seem to be experiencing BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) in Windows 7
x64.. Nothing else has been updated/changed on my system..
Has anyone else had any problems like this? I'm beginning to think it would

RF is getting into the computer or FireWire cable somewhere and stopping

Since I also own a SDR-1000, I'll reproduce your tests with a dummy
load and will post here the results, but meanwhile you gave me a clue:
It seems to me that the switch noise is the preamp gain relay and it is
caused because you have selected different settings for General band and

I have Ferrite chokes on the firewire cable (3 actually).. I might try
putting a couple of chokes on EVERY cable that goes into the PC..
Not sure what else to try as I have that many chokes on the feedline I

Thanks Neal,
I already have each piece of equipment with its own ground cable going back to
a central 'neutral bar' which goes to my earth stake with extremly overkill
copper cable.
Each earth strap to each piece of equipment is just flattened out RG213 braid -
cheap and works great..

Ignacio,
Wow! The Preamp was off for the bands causing issues. With the Preamp
set to High the noise floor dropped to expected levels.
Now I'm only having an issue with the logic:
preamp OFF raises the Noise Floor
preamp ON lowers the noise floor
sounds backwards, so I assume there

There is a problem a couple of folks are having ..
What was running at the time of the BSOD (Digital program, VAC, etc.) ?
Do you have a dump file (in c:\windows\minidump ?
What is your computer hardware configuration ?
