Clay,
I was in CWU, bandwidth of 1K, and pre-amp off and I measured the noise
floor at -114 dBm at 50.125. Interestingly enough, tonight I get -116
dBm. I am using PB-PAL and there was a software revision between
measurements, so who knows if that affected anything. it is also now 1:30 a.m.

In Windows 7, try using the Snipping Tool. It allows you to capture a

Ed,
I'm curious what mode, bandwidth and preamp settings you had when you
measured the noise floor at -114 dBm. With the internal preamp turned on
and my Flex 5000A still connected to the antenna (an M2 6M9KHW at 48'), I
have a noise floor of about -119 dBm on 50.125. When I enable the extern

Colleagues,
My wife is away tonight so I thought I would follow-up on our recent discussion
regarding possible QRM from Linksys (and other) routers and switches. I will
not go into detail about my Linksys model numbers, but I connected my Flex-3000
to a dummy load at 50.125 MHz and the average
I am running Taps 110 Delay 100 Gain 35 and it gets rid of most of the
"tunerupers" unless they are right on or near the "dial frequency" on
LSB 75 and 40 meters.

Yes, Hunter! Click and Pounce tuning is a marvelous thing. And I do know
what you are talking about when you mention mouse and roller quality. I
am almost ready to ask Begali if they wouldn't consider making a high
quality mouse with nice positive detents on the roller! Let me know if

Tim or anyone,
Can you explain what the Spur Reduction button does for my receive? When is
it worth using and why?

On the "spur" issue, toggle the Spur Reduction (SR button) on and off. If
the spur moves, it is a DDS spur and all you can do is move it out of the RX
Hi Steve,
That you get the noise on the dummy load in the configuration you show
increases the chances that the noise is being conducted common-mode. If
not, it would be interesting to know the port-to-port isolation numbers
for the MAC-200. A quick peek at the manual from the SGC site doesn't

If you are using PowerSDR v1.18.x, I am afraid that the default settings for
ANF are about as good as it is going to get. Both NR and ANF have been
significantly improved in the next major version of PowerSDR v2.0.0 due to be

Well, I finally was able to devote a weekend to troubleshooting my HP Pavilion
computer in conjunction to my 5000A. I followed all of the trouble shooting
hints. I went to Device Manager (in Win 7), updated everything that had a
driver and disabled a few non-essential functions. I don't know

I think its worth quite a bit, Ray :-) I have had the Alincos since they
came out, used with the SDR1000 and now have them for the 5k and 3k. Yes,
they are quiet supplies with bonus of meters, especially for current.

What I meant by XOR in this context is a generalization of the actual boolean
XOR function. What I was hoping to accomplish, using the boolean logic XOR

Hi Rob, Jim
I know I won't get chance tonight, but over the weekend a concerted effort to
clean up ready for 6m opening...Luckily and thankfully the lower HF bands are
reasonable clean, 10M less so but will try to identify the causes there also.
