thing that didn't transfer was the CW messages and the antenna connections
for the different bands. No big deal.

For whatever it's worth, 2.7.2 and the Data Transfer program went into K8DXX
flawlessly. I ran the installation program without a hitch. After reading
the HELP file briefly, did the database transfer, again flawlessly. After a
brief recalibration of the audio chain, I've had several enjoyable QS
I believe it will work; the only thing that would be necessary is to have
both versions of firmware on the PC.

Wait for official word to be sure, but I would bet that fallback will not
work with differing release. I think that I remember that there is a
firewire as part of the new release. That likely means that fallback has to
be a carefully followed procedure, which will be in the release notes.

Ahh but there is: It's called DDutil plus the Flex Knob. I use DDutil to set
the three buttons in the Knob set to execxute macros that change my display
from -115 to -135. The three macros are:M31 ZZDQ-115;ZZDN-120;
M32 ZZDQ-125;ZZDN-130;
M33 ZZDQ-115;ZZDN-120; ZZDQ is the CAT comm
