Happy to report that the Audio Balance Test is working again from SVN 2047.
I had sent this problem to the bug list only a couple of days ago.
Thanks a lot to all the hard working Flex people !

Figured out the problem with the left right channels reversed. After I
got my ears cleaned out REALLY figured out what was going on, the external
speakers ARE correct. The problem only appers when I use my Heil ProSet
Plus headset, which I purchased circa 2003. My wife has
Yes, that's correct. :)

Let me correct something in my earlier post. The tones are reversed only in
the headset. The external speakers are correct. Sounds like an issue with
the wiring of the front panel phone jack on my 5000A. Also, the garbled
tones I heard earlier with SVN 1917 are now pure. I don't know what

If that was the answer, us Yanks would have to stand on our heads to hear

Dudley,
When I run the Audio Balance Test, I have tried fully cranking up the Bose
powered speakers (connected to the back of the Flex-5000) and the headphones
plugged into the front panel Phones jack, but can't hear a thing from right
or left channel during the test. However, when using the
I am not sure if this help in your thinking, but when I do the audio
balance test, my tones seem to be coming from my speakers that are built
into the monitor. Other words it must be sending the signal to my
computer sound card nothing to do with the Flex5000.
Just thinking out loud!

Another thing to check: Is VAC enabled? I don't hear any tones
through the power speakers when the VAC button is activated, but when
it's off, the tones come through (although the left and right channels
are reversed).

Criag,
That test really is for the SDR-1000, to help verify connection
between the computer sound card and the radio, Since the 5K has the
A/D chip in the box itself, all the audio to and from the radio is
via the FireWire, so if the FW is connected both sides are
there, not really
That explains it Dudley!! I think that I have had enough exercise pushing

My Flex-5000a receives fine via the speaker jack in the back and phone jack
in the front, including the MuliRX and BIN options. However, when I use the
Audio Balance Test, I can't hear any tone in either right or left
speaker. Am I doing something wrong?

I did not dare to carry this test. To my great embarrasment, when I
click START of the audio balance test, I have the following message :
Is the SDR-1000 hardware powered off ?
Failure to turn off the hardware power could result in damage to the
unit while running this test.
