Yes, in case I _really_ want to use the current Metakit, then I'll do
something about it. I'm just wondering if I'm the only
If you're compiling using Cygwin or MinGW, like I am,
I just copy the compiled libraries to /usr/lib. It's
a lazy workaround. But, I believe that some people say
you can add "-L/usr/local/lib" to your configure line
to make it work. Good Luck.

I've downloaded the latest fgfs, plib, and simgear, and as usual I need to
install the latest metakit - which I did. However, the simgear build process

You may recall me (and other Cygwin users) having problems compiling Metakit
for some time. These were the issues: (i) I had to specify --with-tcl=no (no
big deal), (ii) I had to eleminate 30 lines of code from strings.cpp which
would not compile (ugly).
I contacted the author Jean-Claude Wippler
Thanks Julian! It explains _why_ Norman's suggestion worked. :)

Guys

The SimGear root includes metakit-2.4.2-32.tar.gz. Version 2.4.3 is now available and
fixes several potentially serious bugs. I'm not saying Flight Gear is affected by any
of them (I have no idea) but I think it's worth considering upgrading.

I unpacked the archive to my home directory and did the standard make and

system.

I'm not RH user, but why you don't try to install metakit from
