This can be done with 1.5-era versions.

OK, some mine recommendations / wishes :
1. simplifying of keyboard and IR control of freevo. Now it uses too
many keys, some of them I don't feel as necessary and it's impossible to
map it to some simpler IR controllers. I would recommend similar system
as in my cell phone - two direction keys
2 suggestions :
- a graphical configuration for standard parameters should be nice.
This could manage the theme chooser, the plugin list, and so on. Not all
the stuff but allowing user to change things without editing the config
file

I've been thinking about this too. It might put lots of strain on the
PCI bus,
Two suggestions for Freevo:
1) Use localized IMDB versions:
The IMDB plugin searches for titles against the default http://www.imbd.com, however, in my case, it gives much more relevant results if I use the localized http://italian.imdb.com
Would it be possible to add this as a configurable o

I wrote a small subtitles-plugin a few weeks back that allows you to
select a subtitle. It's one of the extra options. It doesn't write the
information
being able to select external subtitles which dont necessarily have the same filename
as the video would also be great.

Before mplayer is called from freevo for playing movies:
A first call to mplayer for analyzing data in respect to video size:
-Determining the correct size of subtitle font to use -> X
-Creating a possibility to place subtitles correct

I agree. I think MySQL provides negligible benefits for most people,
though it's network aware so that's nice for the minority of people
who use it.
For most uses, sqlite is completely transparent so people won't even
know it's being used.

This must be optional. One of the reasons I switched from MythTV, is that
Freevo doesn't require a database. I don't use Freevo for any TV or

Freevo could really benefit from the use of a database layer, especially
for
handling program data, which ones we'll record, which episodes we've
recorded.
