Has to be the coolpad, mine comes on twice per day unless it is on the table. then it never comes on. Has something to do with the body having heat too. anyway, so the indexing is set for 3 AM (sometimes I'm still working!). I do not have a cooling issue with the TiBook -- my fan has turned on

travel with my Pismo (it's small enough to fit in my bag). I find it to be more comfortable for typing. At home it serves for cooling and also as a swivel base to make it easier to reach the back for connecting cables and such. OK, so where does one can buy this CoolPad?

In OSX I am pretty sure that the system run some maintenance and clean up routines in the wee hours of the morning. *nods* at about 3am or so, its a throwback to the unix underpinnings that expect to be on a computer that runs 24/7. Basically all it is doing is rotating the various logs. OSX
