picked up a D-Link router and a ton of cable. Although nothing was
easy (except running cable) in the set up, i got it working. Found
that the G3 Lombard was losing the connection every few minutes and
nothing i would do seemed
I had the same problem on my Wallstreet, it got worse and worse using larger
and larger shims until I finally gave up and bought a ethernet PCICMA card
which is much cheaper than fixing the port.
Hope this helps

To move your stuff from one PowerBook to the other, use one of them in
Firewire target mode. Restart then immediately press the 'f' key until you
see the Firewire symbol on screen. You can then connect it to a Firewire
Macintosh with a regular cable and the hard disk should appear on the
desktop.
I delayed transitioning to OSX until recently. During this period, I
recall some discussion regarding Virtual PC under OSX being
problematic/slow. Now that I've got Panther up and running, all I
need to do to finally disconnect from OS 9 is to set up VPC in X.
I have a choice between VPC 5.x
Yes I have used it, it functioned. The very first version of 6 had an
issue with G3s but that has been fixed. It is MUCH faster on my G4 but
it was useable on my Pismo and it was better than 5.

Likewise..VPC 6.1 running on...Pismo 400 10.3.1 1GB Ram.. W98 and
Imac SE 400 10.3.1 1 GB Ram...W98A bit slow but so far it seems to
be acceptable...Had VPC 4.0...poor/slow performance then went straight
to 6.1

When I suggested a glue gun I was not trying to be facetious. Glue
guns are amazing things and you do not need a rubber foot underneath
them. As Phil suggested, the glue itself is the foot. You can
shape it any way you want--but I suggest not using your fingers to
shape the glue unless
Spose it would have helped for me to say:
Pismo G3 400/768MB/40GB 5400rpm drive, ran Win98SE, Mac OS X v.10.3.1.

The 10GB in the Pismo is 4200rpm because that is the only speed Apple
shipped in them. Unless you replaced it at some point. I believe the
drives in all G3 iMacs were 5400rpm but I could be wrong on that point.
MacTracker notes drive speeds on main models, you might try there.

Hi folks,
I just installed Panther on my TiBook, and now the menu bar is
screwed up.
The menus on the left side are fine, but all the little app icons on
the
right side (airport, clock, volume, etc) are now gone! They flicker on
occasionally for a second, but are completely unuseable. I

would VP6 work with a Pismo 400 running OS 9?

Hello All,
I'm obviously a newbie, and would like to appeal to

present, which looks to be in excellent condition

I have just successfully replaced the PRAM battery on my Wallstreet and
wanted to upgrade the 4 gig hard drive to a 20 gig drive. When I installed
the 29 gig drive and pressed the power button I heard a clicking and buzzing
sound from the speakers. I put the 4 gig back in and all worked well.
Is anyone successfully using a firewire network? Will a Wallstreet with a
firewire adapter card be able to network via firewire?
Thanks,
Andre

Other suggestions, i.e. with appletalk setups, don't seem to apply to
my setup.
