That's the sad Mac (aka car crash) sound, and it generally means
you have a severe hardware problem. You may or may not be able to do
something about it, it depends on 1) the machine you're using, and 2)
the nature of the problem.

Can one run through a transformer onto the battery
pins inseide the battery bay ?

Most likely its a bad memory chip or loose memory chip. Try removing and
reinserting the memory simms/dimms then restarting.
If that fails, try running with only one chip and then shut down and add the
others one at a time until you find the culprit. If you have an Aluminum
G-Book then the lower

If it's anything like the Wallstreet, Lombard or Pismo,
it probably means that the power connector has came
loose from the motherboard. Or, it is also possible that
the power adapter is busted.
So, probably a physical fault that can be repaired ?!

Hello!
Using an external 16 Mac Color Display (fixed freq.),
I was able to do a fully normal Panther install.
Previous attempts using default settings for XPF were

So a user tells me his Lombard is dead. He claimed it worked off the

It sounds like the Power Management Unit. Did you try resetting it?

My ibook's space key is still rather dysfunctional, only the very
center of it works and it's definitely annoying. Anyone else have this
issue with the newer G4 ibooks?
Oh, and congrats G-bookmates, we've hit our 2000th digest list!

Oh and wiggle the mains connector and see if there is a lot of free play.

The ROM-based self test failed. When it passes, you get a bong.
When it fails, you get a sound that indicates the specific failure -
