Follow up question -- I have added an 1gb SODimm to the system, and while the memory manufacturer states compatibility with my iBook, the Apple iBook specs state 640 mb max. The spots probably started appearing well before the addition of the memory. Would sending in the iBook with the 1g

I tried that and had a lot of stability problems when booting from my external drive. What I do now is just a clean install of OSX on my external drive with utilities for maintenance, and also maintain a copy of my home folder, which I replace every week or any time there is a major change. Andre

Since I haven't worked out my Walstreet problems I borrowed a friend's that upgraded to a G4 processor and running OSX to try and get a feel for what to expect. With it, I'm trying to connect to the Internet through my WiFi provider. With my 3400 running OS 9.1 I connect easily using TCP and DHCP.
