I had installed a different hard drive in my Pismo 500, After I got
it back together, it would not boot. So, I put back the old drive
and it will boot with AC power but not on battery alone. I have two
good batteries. Both show full charge on the battery - four lights
and worked fine

Is there a way on any control settings that I can run the Pismo without
opening the unit?

On page 39 of the 'Setting Up Your PowerBook' manual that came with
my Pismo, it says to leave the Pismo closed and use the power button
on the external keyboard to boot the system. It works
Auto mechanics and machinists will apply a small glob of grease at
the spot where the hole is to be drilled, to catch the chips so they
DON'T contaminate other parts.

anyone has ideas on removing a screw with a worn-out head?
Go to a good hardware store or an auto parts store and get a small
'easy out' and a drill bit to match. The easy out is a small wedge
shaped screw with a reverse thread. You drill a small hole in the
center of the phillips head 'X'

I guess this was too simple and straight forward for me to come up
with on my own. I was expecting some arcane machinations of the
Desktop Folders using an old version of ResEdit or some other secret
tool that I would have to
