Will the ram from my Pismo fit in a friends 500mhz ibook? I think the ram is
high profile so that could be a problem. I just need to fit it in for a
minute as I need to test if the ram is faulty. The ram is showing up as 256
on my computer and I get the dialog in os9 boot: Built in memory test

I don't know if the RAM will fit your friends machine or not but your
description of symptoms would lead me to believe the card is defective. You
could confirm it with your hardware test CD if you have one. Do you have
I am in need of spiritual counseling about my Wallstreet 266. Or advice,
anyway. Heres the scoop. I purchased it cheap from a government auction
source, thinking I might return from the Windows Wayward Way, though right
now my Thinkpad/Windows 2000 is my trusty sidekick. But I have this
Is there a way to add an application to the list of choices available in the

Disklock looks interesting.
Multiple users under 9.2.2 also looks OK.
Any comments about the reliability/security of the above?
F.
Multiple users under 9.2.2 is kind of a childs toy of security compaired to
a firmware protected multi-user OSX computer.

I'm interested, along with a few others, in going inside some bad hard
drives. Does anyone have any suggestions on what type of equipment we should
have to be doing that type of work?
Well if you are planning on trying to use the drive again after opening it,
you need a $500,000 clean room
This is what I have for swapping drives:

Ryan,
Just curious...what are the so many problems that you have with your Pismo?

Oh let me count the ways:

Hello everyone, I just bought a brand new battery for my lombard, and before
I start messing around with it, can someone let me know how you properly
maintain these things? Also are there any special things you need to do to
make sure the battery life meter on the control strip is correct?
I am sending my Pismo in for repairs for the third time because of the DVD
drive or battery failing. This time they showed some concern about it being
repaired multiple times.
Is there anyone out there who has a success story where the DVD failed (the
LG kind) and was repaired/replaced by apple
Are you using OS9 or OSX? It could be a software problem (hopefully).

Does anyone know of a software way to get a powerbook's screen to
show upside down? I want to put a cheapo DVD player/GPS mapper in my
vehicle (the 7 screen crap-ola they sell [at a circuit city, for
example] would run over $2.5k).

I read online somewhere that it is possible to find the invisible 9.2 images
on my 10.2 install disks. Could someone post a link to these instructions?
10.2.1 is out...
Thanks all,

So I just broke down and bought a new 80gig external for my Pismo. I want to
format half of the drive so it is readable on a PeeCee. Why is erase as
ms-dos missing from os 9.2.2 and the disk util in OSX? Is it something with
the File Exchange control panel in OS9? Help..

This is highly likely, but almost everybody that pops the processor card out
of their pismo doesn't get it in tight the first time. You need to press
pretty hard on that sucker. Just when you think you are going to crack the
thing, it pops into place where it should be!
-Ryan Stewart
That's
Yea, but I remember being able to click erase disk in the old 8.5os and
before. There was a MS-dos format along with mac extended and non-extended.

I have a Pismo and my compact flash card mounts perfectly. You must be
running at least OSX version 10.1 or later. In versions 10.0.4 and earlier,
it wouldn't mount. The driver for mounting is built into the OS.
I don't know about the DVD, or other specialty cards in your Wallstreet, but
I would
