If you have access to an OS X machine, you could do a network boot.
That's what I did with my Lombard that does not have a CD drive. You
don't need OS X server; the regular OS X will work fine, but the setup
isn't simple (email me if you need help).

Here's the part about Safari:
The current user bookmarks are saved in
~/Library/Safari/Bookmarks.plist (in other words,
/Users/yourname/Library/Safari/Bookmarks.plist). You can safely backup
and restore this file anytime.
