Hi, I also seem to have the same problem only since upgrading to Panther from Jaguar on my Pismo. I get the 'Disconnect' as described when my ISP times out my dial-up connection and rather then restart you can pull the plug on the phone connection for about 10 seconds then re-plug and it sorts
