The force unleashed is one that I managed to get very far in the demo with, a game that has no panning in it is turtles in time: reshelled for ps3 and xbox, things like tfu are great because you can pan and get in line with the objects and see where you're going. So mainstream games have panning

Thanks Tom. I didn't have a chance to explain fully... but that's a good summary. Although there are no special cues, knowledge of move ranges, hit priorities and whatnot, you get something quite complex that is, as Tom said, quite steep for someone who hasn't played console games before.
