I am looking into compressing overviews for a DEM, with LERC_DEFLATE and it
works. But I'm trying to set the precision loss and get better compression,
since for overviews I don't really care that much.

Hi Paul.
I had to build a big vrt. The one trick that got it loading very fast into qgis
was adding statistics to each rasterband:
Metadata
MDI key=STATISTICS_MAXIMUM255/MDI
MDI key=STATISTICS_MEAN111.6784426525/MDI
MDI key=STATISTICS_MINIMUM0/MDI
MDI
For some reason stats in the individual files did not solve the issue, had to
put it in the vrt.

The schema.table is the most similar to the structure of the fgdb, but may be
unwanted complexity. Can this be an option? Like yes, consider the dataset
name? Or no, discard dataset name. I can see myself in both situations...
Is the driver read only? If not, what will happen when you

compiling it myself is behond my knowledge. That's why I was hoping for a
