Hi Stacy---
I use the guidelines below for 1,000 1 week old or 1,000 2 week old crickets at a time. It seems to me that a tank between 10-20 gallons would be ample room for 500-l,000 larger crickets.

Julie...
I think it's too high in protein, plus it has all sort of added
vitamins (and maybe hormones) good for chickens but not especially good
for crickets and the reptiles that eat them.
In addition to all kinds of fresh veggies and orange wedges, I feed my

I use alfalfa as cricket tub substrate... they eat it (in addition to
all the other goodies I feed them) and it helps with the smell of
cricket feces. I buy bags of alfalfa sold as hamster food. Of course,
there is no substitute for periodic cleaning for keeping the smell of
crickets down!

Gexers,
I used to use Layena (chick starter) for the crickets until I was told that
is too high in something (can't remember what). Basically, crickets may not
have the same nutritional requirements as rabbits and hampsters. I would
purchase some good cricket food like Dr. Susan Donoghue's or
as an odd thought. I have a ton of hampster litter. would that work? right now I just have some paper towels that I change every other day. Icky work.

OK...more great ideas...thanks.
I'm using rabbit pellets for a cricket substrate...any problems or
comments about that?
Thanks all.

Hi Stacy,
I keep mine in a big plastic tub, since lifting a 55-gal glass aquarium
is too much! I tear some of the egg crate into little two-hump pieces,
which are easy to shake over a small kritter keeper. Then I hold the KK
tipped, with a corner toward me and slightly higher than the bottom.

I think everyone by some means has, leopard geckos being a perfect example of one of the most easily 'tamed' geckos.
