No never thought about it. We do have three lories and 12 parrots. I will have
to ask Sir Dick about it.

True, but the ingredients are pretty much the same between the foods,
but I would assume in different proportions.

Right off the bat, protein content (Gargoyle has the highest) and sweetness
(Day Gecko food). When I told Alan the Mauritius days needed more babyfood
mixed in he said he could not really make it taste much sweeter! If you
read the labels there are a ton of ingredients in each food.

Hi Doug,
Yes, it would be convenient to just use one food, but I hadn't thought
of that! Thanks for the info though! Does anyone know just what the
difference is between the various foods? I now feed my day geckos and
crested the same (bugs, mostly crickets, and baby-food fruit)

It's been cool reading about others' experiences with the Crested gecko
food. I'll add my bit.
I have a pair of crested geckos that didn't want the new diet. I tried
mixing it in with their babyfood, but they were never big baby food eaters.
They preferred live crickets. I met Allen Repashy
Allen is supposed to join the gecko list soon!

I tried the crested gecko food with day geckos and wasn't happy with
the results.
They just didn't seem to do as well.
The day gecko food seems much better for them, it mixes up better
than the Rhac foods.

I've found the same. With the gargoyle diet I have to use even less
water or it just doesn't
thicken up. Maybe it's like rice, and the right amount of water
varies with elevation : )
It does work though, I followed directions and started mixing with
babyfood for a month or so

With the crested gecko diet, I've found that I have to use just slightly
less than a 2:1 ratio of water to food. If I do 2 parts water to 1 part
food by volume (say, 1 level teaspoon of water to 1/2 level teaspoon of
food), the mixture is slightly too runny. If, however, I use, say, a

I feed it to my chahoua, I mix it with water and it takes for ever to solidify, then I
tried with peach baby food, and it takes a few hours. My chahoua loves it with the
baby food.

For Cresteds I add some babyfood. If Allen intended it to be a dry food he
would have provided those kind of instructions on the label. Use a tablespoon
to measure both food and water and you can't go wrong!

Yes, it is the most nutritious thing out there. Your gex will look
different, more robust after a month or so of using it.
Is this similar
to the food that's been discussed on this list for day gec
ight as is...
Just my two cents...
