Thanks Andrea, I followed your suggestions and found that Geoserver 2.2 displays rasters with negative values successfully. So I will upgrade. However, there were issues displaying a raster that had both negative and positive values. Using the standard 'raster' style the raster was displayed

These files are not geospatially enabled though. These files would be in EPSG:404000. I got around the other issue I've been having with EPSG:404000 by configuring EPSG:32662 instead. Should I continue this practice and fool Geoserver into allowing me to upload these kinds of files? Of course,
