The serverless NEGs are a good solution that we investigated, not only for
security purposes. The real problem we have encountered is that serverless
NEGs have a default 30 seconds timeout not customizable, and this is a real
stopper for our use cases.

The other problem is that almost all the loading request are served by

I've solved many problems like yours simply adding a "v" on the version
names.
I have to agree, sometimes the instances stay up even for 12 hours,
sometimes get rebooted every 20 minutes, even the resident ones, causing
latency spikes.
I'm thinking to not pay for resident instances anymore, they are totally
useless.

We have a single jar and we disabled the jersey class scanning but the warmup
still needs 30/35 seconds.
Two weeks ago the startup times were around 15/20 seconds, then, one day (I
don't remember when) the performance dropped.

Today everything works. The datastore usage i still 0.72GB but my
entities are 170KB according to the Datastore Statistics page. I think
the value will change in the next few hours.
I'll test the app in the next hours to see if it's all ok.
