I use SUSE on all my computers. SUSE has installed on all of them with no
problem except for one. On this computer there is a problem with the
motherboard and which hard disk decides to boot up first.
Go into the BIOS and look to see if you modify which IDE port can be booted.

i have a problem with Synaptic on a new install of PCLinuxOS MiniMe 2008.
Initially both Synaptic worked fine.
Then it worked fine most of the time, and I was able to use apt-get when it
didn't.
I moved it and Synaptic and apt-get started to break down.

I was considering saving for a mac mini, but if I can't install linux on
it I'm out.
I'm pretty sure I read somewhere a while back that you can install linux
on a mac, but I've been searching the web, and can't find anything much
on it.

What are the latencies of the different sticks?
I can get that from the Crucial site for the new ones. Don't know if I
can tell for the old ones. I suspet this could be the issue...?

Are you saying that in the new grub menu.lst is replaced with grub.cfg?
On my (WBEL) system, menu.lst is a symlink to grub.conf. They are the same
thing...

had trouble with the naming of drives changing which caused great
confusion. Could either of those be your problem?
