And FWIW, I have used the POP3 server. It works great.
So, Lee Hirz used to do some work on Mailman. I'll have to remember
that! :-)

Yup.. Jon patiently spent a lot of time with me, explaining the whole
internet culture (rough consensus, running code, scalability,
decentralization, when they needed "tight" controls, when to be
"loose." Stong interpretation of the standard by the sender, loose
interpretation by the receiver.

I don't have access to a GT.M system, so I can't really help you with
the specifics here, but a first step is to have a listener set up on
port 25 to accept incoming messages. Under VMS, this is done with
TCP/IP services (formerly UCX). Services under VMS are functionally
very much like Unix/Linux
Greg,
To be more precise my question is (are):
1. when i send mail from for eg. yahoo to a user on
mailman, can the user receive the mail on their
mailman inbox? as far as i have understood, this is
possible?
So how do i configure mailman or OpenVistA on the
whole, so as to accomplish this.
2. ho
Jon Postel? I'm impressed. Actually, I do remember bringing up Mailman
on one of the IETF WG lists (821bis) and being surprised that the
reaction wasn't "What the heck are you talking about?" Hmm...

Are you talking about forwsarding messages to Mailman, orf are you
talking about using Mailman as a POP or IMAP client? I don't think the
latter is possible (Mailman isn't a client providing remote access to
other servers), but forwarding mail to Mailman is no different from
forwarding to any other
Hi
It would be really helpful if the MailMan messages
could be forwarded (automatically or manually, as
specified by the user).
Is there any way of sending or receiving messages from
yahoo, etc., into MailMan?

For what its worth, a little MailMan history:
I worked with Jon Postel of ISI in Marina Del Ray when I was designing
the original MailMan 1982-1983. He was one of the designers of SMTP
and the standard for mail names [EMAIL PROTECTED] formats. I didn't
have Internet access at the time, but I wan
Nick:
Could you clarify what you mean by "integrated"? Do you want to forward
MailMan-received mail messages to an external Internet-based e-mail account,
or are your needs a little more complicated? The forwarding capacity is
already built into the system.
Mailman uses SMTP for network mail. So, in other words, the anwer is
yes.
