Uh, that would be normal if you changed it's IP to a 10.0.0.x and were trying to talk to it from either a 192.168.x.y network or as if it was a 192.168.x.y node. UNROUTABLE. Router 10.0.0.1, then all clients IP > 10.0.0.1; Though why you would use a class A/8 private network in a house is beyon

Because they are not using modem in bridge mode and most routers default to WAN DHCP. I never refer to a DSL modem as nor use it as a router. line -> liveip -> wan ppoe client -> modem -> nat -> lan dhcp server -> 192.168.0.x -> wan dhcp client -> router -> nat-> lan 10.0.0.x static -> switch -

Eudora stores email attachments in a default directory called "attach" in the EudoraPro main directory. I like to create and use monthly sub-folders in this "attach" directory. However, when I do this AND put the attachment(s) in their new home Eudora puts a red X on the attachment and can not

Yes, the modem become transparent and the router does the PPoE negotiation to Verizon, thus the router's WAN is your live IP same as a cable modem setup would be. Difference of course is the cable co ships their modems configured to auto-negotiate AND pass (bridge) the live IP to the CPE so you

Sounds about right Wayne. Add a Win2K Domain controller running DHCP & DNS. Solves the staic IP/WINS problem and opens up other advantages like setting policies & running other services for the LAN. Wayne Johnson wrote: > At 23:35 10-10-2007, DHSinclair typed: >> Yes, I do like the "bridge" mod

I was advised against bridge mode, but guided through the setup by a Verizon tech last year. YMMV! Nothing short of bridge mode makes sense anyway if you do logging since router/firewall would log all attempts as coming from the same private IP the modem has mapped you to rather than the true o

Well, I'm assuming that you want to view what attachments you have based on the timestamp. So you would want to go into the attach directory, sort by timestamp, and you'd be able to see the attachments sorted based on the date that you got them. DHSinclair wrote: Ben, I do not understand. Wh

OK, now I see where you came from. Yes, the "attach" directory was sorted by "date ascending." The old email's attachments only became redX'd after I instituted separate (monthly) sub-directories. This is not a new "bug" though. Happens everytime I reload Eudora AND forget to start this proce

I don't know. There is something to be said about distributing the workload over several active devices. If the modem does the PPPoE chore, that is one less thing to slow the router down. One would have to experiment in order to find the best workload distribution mix. Gary VanderMolen -
