Does Vista put stuff in the BIOS/CMOS? That's kinda scary if it does.
No, Vista didn't fail but the machine is acting weirdly. Every morning I
wake up to find it BSOD'd sometime between midnight and 6AM. But the
shutdown instead of reboot thing started before that.
I'm in the process of reinst
Did Vista failed on install of an update? You may need to do a repair

Any more thoughts on this? It's super annoying and happens with or without
a HD attached, meaning that even reboots from the reset switch or keyboard
during boot do this. That to me means it's an issue with the BIOS. So I
cleared the CMOS and that didn't work, I even went back a BIOS revision an

Initial cost is higher, yes, but space & warranty also go up. 1Yr is not shit on

At some point it's a money pit where is makes more sense to pony up for upgrade

Use a VMM & test the PSU voltages at the molex connectors for presence of 12V &

Cooling fans are 12V devices, USB is 5V, so I'd assume the machine would not work at
all if it was PSU. Sound more like something on mobo is fried IMHO.

Not surprised by those results, Maximus, Rampage, and now M2 have been top picks for
about a year now.

I do get your point. Really. However, I figure it would cost me much more
than the $95 I just spent for the 5 matched replacement drives for my
current U160 RAID in the server. Any upgrade to SATA will just have to wait
until I get to some not-repairable failure with the scsi sub-system.
