Rick Burke's mother passed away on Sunday. Beverly Maxine Burke
(Batya) was a very special lady - she was both Rick's mother and his
friend. May her life stories bring wonderful memories to her family.

I just got the sad news that The Mother of Ya'akov Aronson, retired
Chief Librarian of Bar Ilan University, passed away on Monday, 18
December in Oakland CA and was buried in Waco, TX on Wednesday, 20
December. Ya'akov is sitting shiva at his home in Rehovot until
Tuesday morning.

I have a high school student who is researching the eye. He heard
somewhere that the Vilna Gaon said that since the Hebrew word for
eye is ayin there are seventy nerves, veins and/or muscles in the
eye. He is trying to find out if this is true.
Does anyone know if the Vilna Gaon really said

Dear safranim,
According to the website of World Biographical Information System the
digital version of the microfiche set of the Jewish Biographical
Archive was scheduled to appear in 2006. Does anyone know if it did
or the status, and has anyone purchased access to it?
