We also had this happen, and the red control box marking was on the
underside of the slide. Seems that when the slides are packaged in the
box, the front part of the slide is pressed with the red markings on the

What kind of control slides are you using? If the marking is on the same side
as the tissue , it could prevent your solution from getting to all your
tissue.

control stains beautifully, but there is absolutely no staining in the patient
tissue. This will happen to one or two out of 30 slides on a run. It also
