Hmm interesting, now how about being able to store bans in an SQL database?
:)
Feel free to voice your opinion if you think I don't have a clue and why this may be a
bad idea, because I haven't thought it through. I just like the idea. LOL

Yeah, there's a limit on the file size. Off the top of my head, I can't
remember the limit, though.
On a somewhat-related note, when one bans someone in the console, i.e., rcon
banid 0 steamid, does that write it to a file so that it reloads? I've been

Hey there,
We're in the process of creating a ban setup for Counter-Strike:Source
and were copying all the bans from CS1.6 over (since it works by account

and I came across a rather odd error:

That happened to me in HL2 preloading phase 4 or 5, I can't precise.
For more than 3 days I had the same error over and over, and that process
went to 45-55% cpu.
Since HL2 has become available to purchase through steam it just started
preloading fine. I don't know what was the cause of it. I trie

Funny you should mention myg0t, this latest exploit was posted on their
websites news page days before we started discussing it here, so word was
already out about it.
I can understand the reasoning behind 'dont post it here' but 9 times out of

Well...better to post it here than the mygot forums.

Plus, posting about it on this list, if anything, will give Valve incentive

Were you quoting my original post?
Of course something should be posted to this list, as a warning and to
get people talking. I omitted the details, however. It was someone
else who spilled the beans.
The first thing I did was email valve.
In my opinion, however, it's a weekend, and this isn't

Better to ban ID's instead of IP's IMO
Here are some that made everyone time out on my server:
L 10/15/2004 - 21:56:40: "%n<2288>" disconnected ("%n
timed out")
L 10/15/2004 - 23:24:15: "Joey Fagnuts<2318>" changed
name to "%n"
L 10/15/2004 - 23:24:18: "%n<2318>" committed suicide
with "world"
I'm sick of this problem. Valve - please make your maps support 32
spawn points on ALL maps - old and new. If you want me to send you working
'classic' maps with 32 spawn points let me know - every steam update
over-writes my edited maps - the maps edited to add more spawn points.

those attackers steam accounts should be published and banned worldwide.
that´s the first attacker i found in my logfiles (without the details about
the exploit):
