i just found it a bit too complicated for my needs really. I used to use
kontrol with hl1 and thet was perfect for me, but my host told me to try
hlsw but i have to say i don't really like it.

hey guys, Got a strange problem with my source server. first it was
doing validation rejected so i had my host update it (he argued there
was no bug) now it says steam id pending all the time. so therefore my
admin doesn't work and i can't run the server properly. Is there a fix
or is this new?
I actualy have an rcon tool that supports HL1, SRC, BF2 and Q3 servers.
I am planning to release it as open source, but it is actualy for linux
only at this time.

I use beetlesmod on our servers and we use beetles commands in hlsw (or just
regular rcon commands). I am a little stumped as to how you think it is too
complicated especially if you run a server. I mean no offense but it is
much harder to setup
Ok, but I already added that to my command line. In fact, I've added it
to both my hldsupdatetool parameters and my srcds parameters just
incase I misunderstood you. I posted my parameters for the
hldsupdatetool clearly showing -beta swapbeta in the line, and you told
me to include it... into
it does work try a -verify_all after and do it again the problem cropped
up on me today and i rolled back to the non beta and tried again with
-verify_all and not a problem since

I found that when I put the -beta swapbeta at the end of the command line
it didn't seem to work. If I put it just after the -game dods ( or in my
case hl2mp) it did update the server.dlls correctly and I no longer get the
steam validation problems. I do hope that works for you, but not being
well it toke me ac ouple of attempts as i said but it seems to be fine
now. my server is cs:s btw

Ok so If I decide to put 250 FPS, what tickrate would be good to help the
registry out? 66?

tickrate is not applicable to HLDS and certainly not a value of 66
Its sys_ticrate and fps_max and they are dependant upon each other, which is
the opposite case to SRCDS where tickrate and fps_max are decoupled from
each other.

So your telling me for a counter-strike server this would be good
sv_maxrate 2
sys_ticrate 250
sv_maxupdaterate 66
-tickrate 66?

As I said, tickrate has nothing to do with HLDS/CS 1.6

You guys need to read this mailing list more often, and pay more
attention ;)
For a windows based RCON tool that allows for interactive mode, or
command line mode, use the ogsRCON tool written by Frazer from this
mailing list.
Ask Frazer for a link, and im sure he'd be happy to supply it :)
