If you have a LAN and your server and game puter (even if it is the same
physical computer) are on that LAN, then you can/should join your server from
the LAN side. Click the LAN tab, your server should list there. Others will
need to join from the Internet side (through your router).
Yes, I was able to Join before but now I canNot. I do not know why I am

You was able to join before because it was likely setup as a lan server and
now it is an internet server. The problem is because of using the same port
27015 for the client as you use for the server.
I was unable to join my server now I know I have it setup
Properly in port

I tested this just now and using the default ports of everything I had no
problems connecting to the servers.
Maybe it has something to do with all those ports you forwarded and you did
not need to do so.
These errors are normal for running a dedicated sv_lan 0
server and trying
to join it
Hi there,
Does anyone know anything about multiplayer servers for the forthcoming
game Dark Messiah on Steam? It seems details about the server side of
things are a little sketchy.
And yes, I tried searching the Steam forums, but all I got was a white
page (don't you just love PHP timeouts).

Hi Steve,
Interesting - you say you are running them, but using hldsupdatetool
-command list, there's not a word about it. Do you know something I
don't? :)

My advice start from scratch (if it's worth anything)
I find if I have had Issues with software including steam
I get up early (brain works better)
Start a text file and writing your every move!
Put the box on your local network
Download the latest server installer
Set up console script to create
Delete all your forwards also...
The only forwards you need to setup for a dedicated server are:
Port: 27015
Protocols: TCP and UDP

There is nothing more basic to a hl server than to be able to join a game from
the same LAN the server computer is running on. If you can't do that then
you've got some basic network function screwed up. Start out making certain
tcp/ip is functioning properly on both puters. Make sure the
There must be something specific to your config of your WRT54G that is
preventing connection via the LAN. I also have a WRT54G router and I connect
to my game servers (two of them) without any problems. Your router really
shouldn't be preventing you from contacting other devices on your own
My guess is he has one of the firewall filtering routers and isnt allowing
all traffic on his lan segment.

Can't you get custom firmware for your router?

Firewall is off. It's something specific to the WRT54G wireless.

Are you connected wirelessly to the WRT54G? It work fine if you are wired,
just not if you are wireless.

iran a server on my wrt54g using wireless fine so i discount that one.
prolly would help if you changed to a third party firmware that actually
works well (linksys one sucks). i will say @ this point i haven't been
keeping up with this thread but looks like i might need to take a proper
read. more
I've run into firmware issues with Linksys myself so I agree that there can be
problems with it. However, right out of the box without doing anything to a
Linksys router, it's already pretty much config'd for you. Just add your own
Public IP... or use the built in DHCP if your ISP supports
OK I did delete ALL the STEAM ports I had setup I then tried to run Halflife
No go. I then checked they othere suggestions I uninstalled and reinstalled
Steam Halflife it still does Not work. I then tried Counterstrike Success
So I know my Setup is correct it is just something about Halflife??
Hi,
U also might check and see if your ip addy from your isp is private or
public. if private other will not see you and therefore cant join your
server. alot of it could be your router. tel us what kind it is and the
ports you have opened. i have found that if you use port triggering

I'm using Talisman. At the time I think I was using Alchemy. And I spent
freakin' hours trying to get it to work. Finally gave up and plugged in the
Netgear in to the Linksys, and immediately connected. I've been running like
this for a year or so, works very well.
