Re: [hlds] Policy of Truth Still in effect? Fast Respawn without tags OK?

2012-07-31 Thread bottige...@gmail.com
No that is not the point. There has been multiple reports about it on the mailing list back several years with no fix from Valve because they do not deem it important enough to fix. Our servers are not affected because we have a private fix that we spent many hours figuring out, not because we are

Skial is fully complaint with the policy of truth. I have to ask whether you are familiar with the fact that a default respawn time can mean faster than 10 second respawns, even for the blue team. http://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Respawn_times#Respawn_Waves There are servers out there violating

I talked to Mr. Dunn about this problem since May and haven't heard from him since. The problem happens every Steam outage which occurs quite frequently. There was an outage 1 hour ago. Even if your server manages to reconnect to the Steam master list by luck, it will not log back into quickplay,

There was another master list outage 20 minutes ago. Some servers did not show up on the master list until they were rebooted. Can I get a confirmation from anyone else that this is happening? On Thu, May 10, 2012 at 6:41 PM, Jason wrote: > - Fixed a bug that sometimes prevented servers from rec

I made a long thread about this in hlds_linux. We have tried all the suggested solutions and none of them worked. It would be much easier if Valve re-enabled the heartbeat command. For anyone wondering, the master list went down and back up 90 minutes ago. Your server(s) will require a reboot to s

There is a better system than reserved slots. And that is to have a queue for joining a server and letting donators move to the front of the queue. This avoids the annoyance of being kicked for a reserved slot and having to repeatedly "auto-join" a server. Unfortunately this requires support by Va

Re: [hlds] why is the server ping so high

2012-03-09 Thread bottige...@gmail.com
You are hosting multiple servers on a residential connection which have very limited upload speeds. That is why your ping is high. On Fri, Mar 9, 2012 at 8:59 PM, Nomaan Ahmad wrote: > Get a server closer to you. If you live in the UK, don't get server from US, > get ones hosted in UK. > > __
