Knock on wood, yesterdays 8/31 update seems have to addressed the nasty gremlin
which had plauged our win2k3 CSS server for the past few weeks. Finally!

It wasn't a very good weekend, everytime I checked in on the server is was

seeing these CreateFragmentsFromFile errors now after all the updates last week.
Weekend lockups, they all seem centered around a person
Don't know about CSS, but on TF2 the console message about sprays is quite
common.
CreateFragmentsFromFile: 'downloads/checksum.dat' doesn't exist.

That was causing lag on my Linux servers where the spray folder has 4K+
spray files and it couldn't find a spray (server paused for a second or
half)
So I disabled sprays.
Also about the freezes, try disabling bots, see if the freezes go away.

Well its Friday and after all the updates we've seen this week we're still
seeing this lockup as mentioned below. Gonna give your workaround a try 1nsane
(ie: -nobreakpad).
Crosses fingers... :)

Yeah I tried this, but just had my server hang again.
One difference though, I couldnt find a dump in C:/dumps where it seems to
put them now.
But it doesnt help with the hanging, at least for me.

I think once minidumps are uploaded to valve they get deleted which is why you
don't see them. They should keep a local copy after uploading even if we can't
fully debug them.

At the moment, on Linux atleast, the -nobreakpad option is broken.

Today I've gotten three crashes of my CS:S and TF2 servers already, both
without quitting. The servers just hang, very annoying because they will not
quit and restart automatically via batch file, they simply stay offline
until I notice the issue...

Hi,
I have same issues on my Win2008 64bit system.
Had two hangs in TF2 and two hangs in CSS today.

I saw this start back on the 8/17 CSS update and reported it though no comments

Hm, I'm not running any bots on my CS:S server. But maybe bots cause the
issue to appear more frequently...

There definitely was a bot related crash, might still be. I stopped running
bots on some of my CSS servers because of it.
I talked with a guy from HPE sometime around the CSS beta (limited one) in
regards to bots crashing, and he said that they were aware of it. Fairly

Thx for the 411, next lockup I'll give it a try ;)
