Sounds like you still need to open some more ports. Permit outgoing
connections on UDP and TCP port range 27000 - 27050. If that solves it,
you know you have a firewalling issue. Also check if you have a firewall
like iptables running on your linux box and temporarily turn that off as
well.
Of
Thanks Regime - all help received so far has been much appreciated :)

Hi all,
Recently on one of our servers, we have been getting a lot of complaints
from people who are not able to get in on the server, because they
receive an error: Error verifying steam ticket. I have had those
myself in the past and normally a restart of steam solves this. For this
server
Okey dokey...the ports on the firewall and sever setup are being done as
of typing this, so I thought I'd check something out. What mods/anti
cheat progs are worth using these days? I used to amx mod for one thing,
but having been away from the server scene for a while I'm unsure of
what else to

Well there are two things I would suggest looking at. First is trying to
update your server with the ./steam -command update ...etc to see if you've
got files that need to be updated or something. Next only applies if you're
running Mani on the
We have had this exact problem since late 2005 on our servers. I have tried
to find a solution through this list and through Alfred. The only thing that
came up on that issue was that we should have connectivity issues, whish was
checked and determined to not be true. I have seen this threads
No, please email the list (hlds_linux@list.valvesoftware.com); we're
having the same problem, and I can't find the culprit.

Read this somewhere and my friend who is setting the server up has asked
me to clarify it for him:
you need port 27011 outbound allowed (configure your firewall) because
this allows us to connect to the master servers
is that port for UDP or TCP?
Jay.
You need several ports outbound allowed on both UDP and TCP ports. What
I do is:
-Open those ports i said in the last email
-Do the update
-See which ports are being used in your firewall log
-Close all ports
-Open the specific ports used
Sorry I would love to give you the exact list, but I don't
Thanks for the replies all..
I think I may have found the solution to my problem: There was a port
being blocked after all.
The server tried to connect to steam2.steampowered.com over TCP port
27033. Missed this earlier (oops).
Do any of you having these problems firewall outgoing connections?

No, sv maxrate 0 did not help :( It has no effect... same lag.
But i have noticed, that the server fps sometimes drops to 125. Approx. at the
same time, as the lag occurs. Not often. What i dont understand is, why does
it drop, if the cpu load does not exceed

Maybe you should take a look at the server and see what is running at the
time of the lag spike. There must be something, otherwise the server would
(should) be just fine. The FPS should maintain a constant level even when
under load. You *might*
We have the same issue sporadically. We have no firewall
installed (shame on us Oo).
Due to it's a problem occuring very infrequent, we are
taking it like Whisky does.
