Frankly, I don't really care what either of you do. This type of drama
might fly on Myspace of even the hlds list, but hlds_linux has generally
always been better than that.
I still subscribe to hlds_linux because the messages are generally
on-topic, factual, and relevant to others running hlds an
Seriously... Why hasn't this been patched ages ago? Do they not care? Do
they want people to do it? It sounds like fun, I'm thinking about trying
them just to have my servers stay full for 20 minutes longer a day. Good
idea right? Seems like Valve is providing the means to have these servers.

Wow Jake, 15 redirects someone is getting greedy with their redirects.
You complain about Q clan having 33+, your almost half way there. Not to
mention your redirects have fake names.
You just had to bring me down with you because thats the kind of jerk you
are. If I remember correctly, you st

Yeah, noticed the fake ones like Q and a few others now are running still show

I've shut my fake servers down.

They talk about this directly in their blog post. They are trying to find a
way to delist servers that does not use information from the servers
themselves. Any information sent to the master server or to a status
request can be faked. If all they were to do was strict up on listing
servers that
Jake, I think VALVe could probably do something, but again someone will do a
plugin and find a way to bypass their protection, like making the master
servers think it's real people who are connected to the server. That's
probably why they are doing it this way, directly by Steam, which seem to be

Doesn't look like it's automatic. I put up 2 redirect servers for fun on
friday. They redirect to each other and then ban the IP so they don't show
after a few loops. Still up and listed!

I can say I know running those fake servers is a dick move, some people ask why

I don't have TF2 here, I can't check.
I see people being disconnected immediately after connecting, that's why I
guess they are redirect.

Some people seem to be running lot of redirects.
All on the same IP, 31/32 or 23/24, but all fake clients, and still in the
server browser:
