This really isn't similar to the competitive scene at all.
When TF2 was released, *absolutely nobody *bought the game expecting Valve
to prop up the competitive scene like they are doing with Dota2. People who
wanted to host their own competitive leagues were free to do so with 0
interference
If they even took a small step towards addressing the problem I'd be back
on board for hosting Valve games. I left TF2 a while back because the QP
changes made it impossible to recruit community members to replace those
that sadly left. Community churn is natural.
Unlike custom game mode servers
Thank you for the update! I was unaware of all of this. Of course some of
us will take it with a grain of salt but I love to hear the words "big
update"

Perhaps you will get the attention you so desperately seek from Valve in

Keep in mind that server owners are not the only group that supports
this game. The competitive scene has held on through it all, is still
growing,
Not that it was necessary to say so, but although I sound snarky I am
anything but. People make comments, I make responses, not sarcasm. So, to
respond to an earlier comment about how long ive probably run
servers...about 8 years. I started soon after TF2 came out.
I have a love/hate relationship
Erik-jan Riemers that was the hay day, it's gone now, in my opinion it died
with TFC.

I remember the day we had 300+ euro a month, from donations "random people"
without the need of those ads. (and yes that all went to servers)
Anyways, if Valve just had something like: New players play for xx hours on
Valve server then they would be put to the community servers. Or a popup
I agree with Robert. I've been playing Overwatch recently and when it's
fully released I doubt I'll play TF2 anymore. Blizzard appears to
acknowledge feedback from my initial observations where Valve no longer
seems to be and appears to have not done so for a long time, unfortunately,
which isn't
Well congratulations for being a special little snowflake? Now shut up if
you are not going to say anything useful in a thread related to community
server issues, in a mailing list specifically made for community server
issues, instead of telling us to go to a forum where no Valve employee ever
